Cloud Computing Models Such as SaaS, IaaS and PaaS on the Rise
German Enterprises Investing in Cloud Computing as Confidence in ICT Sector Rises
(30.06.15) - A new survey from market researcher Kable shows that 48 percent of German enterprises are planning to increase their ICT budget this year, compared to 31 percent in 2014, presenting ample opportunity for investments in cloud computing services. According to the survey, German enterprises look towards investing in leading ICT segments to boost innovation and efficiency and to support their industrial growth. Almost half (47 percent) of respondents are planning to increase their overall ICT budgets in 2015, compared to 31 percent in the previous year, indicating a 16 percent increase in respondents with a positive outlook. Moreover, the percentage of respondents planning to reduce their ICT budgets in 2015 has declined by 10 percent compared to 2014.
In addition to investments in core ICT solutions, German enterprises are increasingly adopting technologies such as enterprise applications, business intelligence and security products. Similarly, the growing technological needs of enterprises are calling for investments in cloud computing services that can match the complex requirements of their current business environment. Apart from software as a service (SaaS), enterprises in Germany are also keen to invest in other cloud computing models including infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS). Kable estimates that in Germany, the IaaS market will increase from US$1.2 billion in 2015 to US$5 billion in 2019, growing at a CAGR of 42.4 percent.
According to Piyush Sharma, lead analyst at Kable, IaaS is becoming the fastest-growing cloud segment among German enterprises. He says: "With IaaS, infrastructure can be availed as a plug-in service anytime. In addition to reducing the time taken for adding new functionality, IaaS is enabling enterprises to dynamically add newer capabilities and improve upon their agility.”
Kable also predicts positive growth trends for the business intelligence (BI) segment In Germany: 84 percent of survey respondents are currently using some form of BI solution within their enterprises, while 79 percent of respondents are planning to invest in these segments through to the end of 2016. This is in line with Kable’s market forecasts for the German BI market, expected to increase from US$650 million in 2015 to US$967 million by 2019, growing at a CAGR of 10.2 percent. (Kable: ra)
